Joseph J. Mrazik, Sr.

Joseph J. Mrazik, Sr., 94, of North Haven, passed away peacefully May 7, 2022, at Whitney Rehabilitation Care Center. He was the husband of the late Nellie Cwiertniewicz Mrazik for 62 years. Joe was born in Wallingford, May 10, 1927, a son of the late Joseph and Emma Papp Mrazik. He served his country with honor in the US Navy during WWII in the Pacific Theater. After being discharged, Joe began a career with United Illuminating as a 1st class mechanic for 35 years until his retirement. Father of Joseph “Butch” Mrazik, Jr. and his wife Rosemary of West Haven, Wayne Mrazik and his wife Denise of Wallingford, Kenneth Mrazik of Cheshire and Donna Mrazik of North Haven. Proud grandfather of MaryKate (Kyle) Bassoli, Megan (Sean) Egan, Kathleen ( Jay) Turiano, Stacey (Steve) Milbrandt, Sarah Mrazik (Shawn Lessard), Melissa Daley, Kim ( John) Wojciechowski and Robyn ( Joell) Miranda. Also survived by 12 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his brother, Alexander Mrazik. Joe was an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals, the Green Bay Packers and UConn Women's Basketball.

He took great pride in his gardens, enjoyed fishing, woodworking and traveling with his wife, Nellie. His family would like to thank the staff at Whitney Rehabilitation Care Center for the compassionate care given to Dad.

Visiting hours will be Wednesday morning from 9 to 10:30am in the Lupinski Funeral Home, Inc. 821 State Street, New Haven. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Stanislaus Church at 11. Burial will follow in All Saints Cemetery, North Haven.
