Maria (Wurzburger) Iannaccone, 94, of East Haven passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 15, 2022, surrounded by her loving family. Maria was a beautiful, elegant, and strong woman whose family was her world. She was born in New York, NY on November 11, 1927, the daughter of the late Elena (Ricci) and Leopoldo Wurzburger. At the age of three, her family returned to Italy where she was raised, married, and had six of her children. She returned to the United States in 1961 where her last two children were born. Maria worked in various manufacturing companies in the New Haven area but her true life’s work and joy was her family. She was a loving mother, ‘Nonna’, and sister to her beloved family. She was extraordinarily kind to her children, grandchildren, and their spouses, and they were equally devoted to her. Maria was an incredibly talented cook and great food was at the center of many wonderful family memories. She was predeceased by her husband, Pellegrino Iannaccone, her brothers Guilio and Elia Wurzburger, her sister Catarina Varriale, and two grandchildren, Gennaro Iannaccone and Olivia Iannaccone. Maria is survived by her eight loving children, Salvatore Iannaccone and his wife Angela, Ralph Iannaccone and his wife Anna, Maria Mazzucco and her husband Carmine, Leopoldo Iannaccone and his wife Patricia, Ciro Iannaccone, Elio Iannaccone and his wife Agnes, Gennaro Iannaccone and his fiancé Andrea Coppola, and Elena Fusco and her fiancé Tony Ferraiolo. She is survived by her sister, Rita Cimmino. Maria leaves an immense legacy in her loving family, who she cherished. She leaves 20 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren, and many beloved nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Maria’s caregivers and particularly Gina, for caring for Maria like her own family.
