Hamden Hall upends Brunswick in FAA baseball semifinals

Cam Maldanodo had two home runs and four RBIs for the fourth-seeded Hamden Hall baseball team, which knocked off top seed Brunswick 5-1 Tuesday in the Faircheste­r League tournament semifinals at Greenwich.

Maldonado has five homers and 12 RBIs in his last three games for the Hornets, who will play at No. 2 seed Greens Farms in the final Thursday at 4:30 p.m. Maldonado was also the winning pitcher. Bennett Crerar added a sacrifice fly.

Fairfield Prep 1, Lyman Hall 0: Ryan Oshinskie pitched six innings of scoreless relief for Fairfield Prep, which scored an unearned run in the bottom of the sixth inning to take this

SCC game at Fairfield.

Oshinskie struck out 10 for Prep. Tyler Casey allowed four hits for Lyman Hall.

Nonnewaug 12, Housatonic 0: Ben Conti threw a no-hitter with nine strikeouts and had a 5-for-5 day at the plate as the Chiefs remained perfect Tuesday in Falls Village.

Conti walked one, hit a batter and allowed a runner to reach on an error. He struck out the final two batters of the game to seal the gem. Conti's five-hit effort included two doubles, three runs scored, a steal and an RBI.

Dylan Chung singled, doubled and drove in four runs while Brett Davino singled, doubled, scored twice and had an RBI. Braeden Purser-Eber also had a hit and two RBI for Nonnewaug (17-0), which can clinch the Berkshire League title with a win Thursday over Litchfield.

SOFTBALL

Cheshire 4, Amity 3:

Karissa Spring drove in Grace Lurz in the bottom of the seventh inning for Cheshire in its SCC home win. Spring and Cat Palmer both had two hits for Cheshire.

Ansonia 7, O’Brien Tech 6 (10): Jackie Brown had three hits for Ansonia, which outlasted O'Brien Tech in a non-conference game at Ansonia.
