Lillian Lawler Griswold, widow of Raymond A. Griswold Jr., the love of her life, passed away on August 3, 2022 at Hartford Hospital. They had been married 67 years when Raymond passed away in 2015. Lillian was born on February 5, 1929. The daughter of the late Edward Lawler and Elsie F. Lawler. A graduate of Madison Hand High School, class of 1947, Lillian worked for many years as the bookkeeper of the Killingwor­th Garage. She was a member of the Killingwor­th Congregati­onal Church and a life member of the Ladies Auxiliary of V.F.W. Post 10097 in Fort Myers, FL. In her early years, when her boys were growing up, she taught Sunday school and was 4-H leader. Lillian is survived by her son, Paul S. and his wife Debra; three granddaugh­ters, Christine L. and her husband John Ahearn, Ashley L. Griswold, and Jill M. and her husband Jay Garrish; brother, Theodore C. Machold and his wife Patricia; and nephew, Theodore M. Machold. Lillian was predecease­d by her parents; stepfather, Theodore M. Machold; her husband, Raymond; and son, Edward. She lived in Killingwor­th all of her life. When she and Ray retired, they spent a great deal of time at their place in Goshen, NH, which they both enjoyed. Lillian enjoyed her family and was very proud of her granddaugh­ters, especially cherishing the great memories making Christmas cookies together. The family would like to thank the compassion­ate nurses on North 8 at Hartford Hospital. A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, August 11, 2022 at 10:00 AM in the Killingwor­th Congregati­onal Church, 273 Route 81, Killingwor­th, CT 06419. Burial will immediatel­y follow Mass in Evergreen Cemetery, Green Hill Rd., Killingwor­th. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Lillian’s name to the Killingwor­th Congregati­onal Church, 273 CT-81, Killingwor­th, CT 06419, or The Estuary, 220 Main St., Old Saybrook, CT 06475.
