-

Paula Urquhart Wuestefeld, 87, of Clinton, passed away peacefully on November 18, 2022. Born on December 14, 1934, in Everett, Massachusetts she grew up in Wethersfield and Orange, Connecticut. Paula was the daughter of the late Richard Harold Urquhart and Laura Labbe Urquhart.

She married the love of her life, her late husband Norman Wuestefeld, in 1953. They enjoyed 48 long, happy years building a family and creating a home together before his passing in May 2001.

Paula worked as a preschool teacher for many years while dedicating her life to her beloved husband and five children. Norman was away a lot on business which meant that Paula was often the final arbitrator regarding the raising of the children. Paula was a voracious reader and was known to have CBS radio continuously on, even if the static could be heard over the news. She served as a girl scout leader, was an avid quilt maker, having been a member of the local quilt group in Clinton for many years, and loved attending Broadway shows. Paula also loved to travel and accompanied Norman on many trips in the U.S. and abroad. She was a great lover of dogs and was often seen with one of her “dobies” by her side. She raised AKC Dobermans for many years. Above all else, Paula found her joy in spending time with her family and friends, those she held most dear to her heart.

As well as her parents and her husband, Paula is predeceased by her sister Natalie, her daughter-inlaw Nora, and her beloved grandmother Ida.

Paula will be greatly missed by her sister Sharon Johnson and her 5 children, Leslie Kim (Clifton) from Middletown, Lance (Mary) from Canton Georgia, Dirck from East Haven, Kris (Rosemary) from Woodbridge, and Ashley Paige (Karen) from Berkley Massachusetts. She is also survived by her 9 grandchildren, Blake, Hillary, Julia, Dirck Jr., Tabitha, Kira, Kayla, Anna, and Lucas. She is also survived by 7 loving great-grandchildren, Nathan, London, Hudson, Eric, John, Kellen, and Quinn.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, November 25 from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m. at Swan Funeral Home in Clinton, a Funeral Service will follow at 12 p.m. at the Funeral Home. A burial will immediately follow at Beaverbrook Cemetery, located on RT-145 in Clinton. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Paula's name to Doberman Rescue Unlimited (www.dru.org) or to the Alzheimer's and Dementia Association (www. act.alz.org).
