Walter P. Kukta Sr. of Clinton, CT was called home on January 22, 2023 while at Yale New Haven Hospital. He leaves behind his wife of 71 years Geraldine M. (Clark) Kukta. He will join his father Frank Kukta Sr, mother Agnes Kukta, brothers Julius, Barnet, Frank Kukta Jr, Steven Mickalanis, sisters Stephania Kukta and Dorothy Brainard. Born in Washington Heights New York June 27 1927 moved to the family farm in Madison, CT as a young child. As a young man he was a member of the Connecticu­t Guard and Madison Auxiliary Police assisting in the 1938 hurricane evacuation. Enlisting in the navy he turned 17 on a ship heading to Okinawa. He then reenlisted in the Army with his brother

Frank to serve in the 82nd Airborne. Walt married the twinkle in his eye Gerry on Flag Day June 14, 1951 whom he leaves behind with his 5 children Laura and Leroy Edwards of Clinton, Walter and Nadine Kukta of Old

Say Brook, Doris and James Hughes Jr of Haddam, Ronald and Constance Kukta of Moodus and Gayle and Bob Becker of Charleston, VT. Also missing him will be 9 grandchild­ren and 12 greatgrand­children. He worked most of his career for Crosby Express as a teamsters truck driver and many other odd jobs thereafter. Walter was a founding member of VFW post 2096 in Madison and lived his entire life on Green Hill and Warpas Rd. until retiring then moving to Clinton. Pops loved Long Island Sound fishing, lobstering and crabbing. Walt and Gerry his copilot traveled cross country in their RV and spent many summers camping about including Charleston Breachway, RI. Also known as Mr. K, he had many talents, the gift of gab, master of limericks, encycloped­ia of history and Madison and a human version of Map Quest. As you walk through the gates of heaven to join your family and best friends our love will escort you. Thank you for the good times and good life. “Nazdrowie” to our hero. There will be a family graveside service on March 18th 11:00 a.m. At the Veterans Cemetery in Middletown.
