James A. Comiskey, of

East Haven, rode into his last sunset at home on February 13, 2024. For over a half of a century, James built a life and a family with his wife Antoinette Consiglio Comiskey. Even after all that time, she will affectionately called him “Jimmy”.

A proud Marine, James served his country with honor and distinction from 1969- 1972. His commitment extended beyond his military service to a dedicated career at the Hospital of St. Raphael’s and Yale New Haven Hospital, where he served as a Pharmacy Tech and Pharmaceutical Buyer from 1974 until he retired in 2018.

James never stopped living the Marine Corps motto of Semper Fidelis, which means always faithful. He was devoted to his family, his county, and his community. Despite his busy schedule, James never missed an opportunity to support his grandchildren at dance recitals, band concerts, and sporting events. To say that he was their biggest fan is an understatement. His unwavering support was how he showed the profound love he held for his family.

James was an active member of the East Haven community, participating in various organizations that reflected his passion for service. He was a proud volunteer firefighter with the East Haven Fire Department Volunteer Company One for over 40 years and served as the Captain. His community service extended to VVA Chapter 484, American Legion Post 89, and Wreaths Across America, East Haven Fireworks Committee and Clean- Up East Haven.

When not cheering on his grandchildren or volunteering, James could be found on the Shoreline Greenway Trail, where he enjoyed daily walks or tending to his garden at home while listening to doo-wop music. He will be remembered for his devotion to family and commitment to the community. He will be missed.

In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by his daughters Michelle Comiskey McIntyre and Tracy ( Joseph) Comiskey D’Amico of East Haven, his sister,

Gail (William) Comiskey Lucas, and sister-in-law Susan Consiglio Friello (Ed Martinez) and Deborah (Thomas) Consiglio Tropiano, along with many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. James leaves behind a legacy of love for his five grandchildren whom he adored: Mia D’Amico, Lydia D’Amico, Aaron McIntyre, Adam McIntyre, and Ava D’Amico.

James was predeceased by his parents, James and Marie Comiskey, in-laws Michael and Myrtle Consiglio, and brother-in-law Gerald Consiglio.

His funeral procession will leave EAST HAVEN MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME 425 Main St., East Haven, CT at 10:30am on TUESDAY February 20, 2024 for a Mass of Christian Burial which will be celebrated at 11:00am at St. Pio of Pieltreclina Parish at St. Vincent DePaul Church, 80 Taylor Ave., East Haven. Military Honors will be rendered after the Mass outside of the church. Calling hours will be on MONDAY (TODAY) February 19, 2024 5:00pm- 8:00pm at the funeral home. Burial will be private.
