21 Savage set to come to Hartford in June for ‘American Dream Tour’
21 Savage will take to the stage of Hartford’s Xfinity Theatre in June to share songs that tell his life story.
The rapper recently announced that his “American Dream Tour” will be coming to 30 venues around the country, including the Xfinity Theatre. The Connecticut show is set for June 1 at 7 p.m. 21 Savage will also be joined by fellow rappers J.I.D., Nardo Wick and 21 Lil Harold, according to LiveNation.
The tour celebrates the release of the rapper’s newest album, “American Dream,” which was released on Jan. 12. The album aims to tell the story of the rapper’s life: being born in London and moving to Atlanta, Georgia, dropping out of school and joining a street gang. In songs on the album, such as “Dark Days,” the rapper encourages young people to not make the same mistakes that he did.
The rapper promoted the new album with the announcement of a biopic titled “American Dream: The 21 Savage Story.” The trailer, released on Jan. 8, featured appearances from actors Donald Glover and Caleb McLaughlin and some new music from the album.
However, later in January, he admitted during an appearance on the Club Shay Shay podcast that the trailer was just a parody to promote the new album and no movie would be coming out.
21 Savage also recently received several nominations for the 66th Annual Grammy Awards, including for Best Rap Album, Best Rap Song, Best Melodic Rap Performance and Best Rap Performance. During the 62nd Annual Grammy Awards, he won an award for Best Rap
Song for “A Lot.”
