Built on one of the highest elevation points in Wallingford, this Georgian Colonial looks down on the sprawling Gouveia Vineyards.

“I loved the stunning views, the mountains and the vineyard, seller John ‘Johnny Mac’ Mocadlo said. “And you could see between Hartford and New Haven.”

Described by Amy Rio, listing agent for Executive Real Estate, as “super high end,” “decadent” and “the Gucci of real estate,” the property was updated last year by Mocadlo with superior quality custom and reclaimed materials, including hardwood floors, tiling, cherry paneling, light fixtures, iron railings, dental molding and millwork.

“He really kept the feel of that Great Gatsby era,” Rio said.

Mocadlo redesigned the interior in keeping with “the true heritage of this house.”

From the front door, one enters the bright high-ceilinged paneled foyer, which Molcadlo painted white to give it “an open airy feel.” Facing the foyer is a beautiful double staircase.

Immediately to the left is the library.

With cherry paneling, built-in shelves and arched windows that let in the morning sun, it’s a great spot for coffee, according to Mocaldo.

To right of the foyer, the living room features arched windows, a fireplace with a Delicatus white marble surround, paneling and molding matching the foyer, and leaded sconces from a chateau in France.

The living room opens to a family room that looks out to the vineyards.

The renovated kitchen offers white cabinets with a Coventry gray island and Carrera marble countertops.

“It was meant for entertaining,”

Molcaldo said of the kitchen. “The whole house was remodeled with entertaining in mind.”

The dining area off the kitchen has a “great big brick fire place,” that, according to Molcaldo “is pretty.”

A large all-glass sunporch off the kitchen offers 180-degree views of the woods and the vineyard.

The first floor power room was designed by local artist Marc Potocsky in Venetian plaster and gold leaf with a standing mirror covered in gold leaf.

The spacious master suite has hardwood floors, French paneling, mercury glass sconces, a fireplace and bay windows looking down on the vineyard.

“The master gets one of the best views,” Molcaldo said. “It’s pretty much being up another 20 feet, it just accentuates the views.”

The “giant walk-in closet” accommodates 60 suits, jewelry, and according to Molcaldo, was designed by California Closet and received national mention in one of the company’s fliers.

“It was basically designed for 75 pairs of shoes,” he said. “We have a big sneaker collection.”

The “amazing” master bath has radiant heat flooring and is done in white onyx and Calacatta gold marble with gold hardware and gold leaf framed mirrors. The massive walk-in shower was designed for two, Molcaldo said.

The guest bath has a backlit LED makeup mirror and is tiled from floor to ceiling to look like the bathroom in the Encore Hotel in Las Vegas.

There is also an au pair suite with two bedrooms and a bathroom.

Formerly in the night club industry, Molcaldo said his friends wanted to get together and celebrate so, three weeks ago, so he had a “housewarming” party with a Grammy winning DJ and 480 guests.

Party goers meandered in and out of the house, gathering in the
