William B. Cohen passed away peacefully on April 9th surrounded by his family. He was born on November 24th, 1929 in New Haven, son of Ben and Ida Cohen. Billy was an incredible father, grandfathe­r, brother, uncle, and friend and was loved and respected by all who knew him. After graduating from UConn and serving in the Army during the Korean conflict, he came home to manage his family’s wholesale business in New Haven, M. Cohen. He then had a second career as a highly successful insurance agent and financial advisor. Billy is survived by his sister, Vera Lee, his children Jay and Jane Cohen and Beth and Jon Bressman, his four grandchild­ren (Lauren and Bailey Bressman, Annie and Andy Cohen), his sister-in-law Sandee Solomon and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predecease­d by his beloved wife of 46 years, Barbara Cohen and two sisters, Anne Baker and Edith Schwartz. Billy was an avid fan of the UConn Huskies women’s basketball team and a collector stamps, coins, and autographs. He was true gentleman in every sense of the word and his memory will continue to shine in the hearts of his family and friends. Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Associatio­n or Connecticu­t Hospice. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the caring staff of Coachman Square and Yale New Haven Hospital. They are especially grateful to Connecticu­t Hospice.
