Raymond C. Pawlowicz, age 77, of West Haven, CT and Indian Land, SC passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on October 28, 2021. Born in New Haven, Ray was the son of Frank and Stephanie (Szmalc) Pawlowicz. After graduating from West Haven High School, he received a Master’s in Education and a 6th year degree in Library Science from Southern Connecticu­t State University. He was a beloved history teacher and a long-time Advisor of the Key Club, who impacted countless students during his 35-year career at Jonathan Law High School in Milford. Ray was also a proud Army Veteran and a member of the CT National Guard. Ray was an avid reader who enjoyed fishing, golfing, cooking, and traveling.

Ray will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 52 years, Judith Ann (Iadonisi) Pawlowicz, his children, Stephen (Sara) and Gregory (Andrea); his four grandchild­ren, Abigail, Alec, Kyle, Cameron; his sisters Gail (Joe) Fortini and Joyce (Mike) Holland; his brothers in-law Daniel Iadonisi and Louis Cuomo; his sisters-inlaw Eileen Wilson and Elena (David) Oppedisano; numerous nieces and nephews; as well as many life-long friends, colleagues and former students. He was predecease­d by his parents; his stepmother Alice (Reinwald) Pawlowicz, his brothers Frank (Buddy) Pawlowicz Jr., Alexander Wilson, and William (Valerie) Wilson; and his sisters Elaine Wilson and Ann Cuomo.

Friends and relatives are invited to celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial on November 11, 2021 at 11 o’clock at Our Lady of Victory Church in West Haven. Interment will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Connecticu­t Hospice or the Wounded Warrior Project. West Haven Funeral Home at the Green is entrusted with arrangemen­ts.
