Julia Knight

-

Julia (Hammer) Knight, age 51, of New Haven, passed away at her home after an almost 2-year leukemia battle with her loving family beside her on May 24, 2022. Born in Louisville, KY on November 22, 1970, Julia is survived by her husband and best friend, Daniel M. Knight; her 2 beautiful adult children, Audrey and Winston Knight; her parents, David and Karen (Wallace) Hammer; and her siblings, Jane, Sam, Matt, and Ann. Julia received degrees in engineering and nursing. She was someone who always did well in school. Julia was also a nearly full-time spiritual student for over 24 years. She loved growing all things. She loved her garden and her dog Sadie, who is now 10 years old. Julia had the opportunity to serve, and became a minister and a priest, helping to grow a spiritual school and live-in program for spiritual aspirants. She was always a spiritual aspirant herself and continued to seek the divine in all things. She appreciated beauty, both of people and of nature. Like her mother Karen, Julia had a strength for listening and coming to understand others, mainly because she wanted to know more about them. That was a grace in both child rearing and in being a friend to so many. Like her father David, Julia had a sense of knowing where she was and would always route us along the most beautiful ways to get places. She taught her husband many things; the largest was to be in the moment and appreciate the details and the beauty of others’ intentions and life work. She now lives on in her husband, children, her family, and her friends.

They all were blessed to have lived a life with her.

Friends are all invited to attend her Memorial and Celebration of Life Service on June 3rd from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Beecher & Bennett Funeral Home, 2300 Whitney Avenue, Hamden, CT 06518.
