Gloria Peschell, 90, of Orange passed away on January 5, 2023. She was the loving wife of the late Samuel Peschell. Gloria was born in Waterbury, daughter of the late Alphonse and Italia Oricchio Filippone. She is survived by her children Samuel (Becky) Peschell Jr. of TX, Lisa (Donald) Cummings of ME, John (Dawne) Peschell, and Richard Peschell all of West Haven, her grandchildren, Amber ( Jordan) Skelton, Tommie (Philip) Davidson, Whitney (Esteban) Ice, Anthony Peschell, Samantha Cummings, Stephanie Peschell, Michael (Alyssa) Peschell, Kasey (Aimee) Bassard and Kristina (Thomas) Carpentier, 11 great-grandchildren and seven great-greatgrandchildren. In addition to her husband, Gloria was predeceased by her brothers Harold and Joseph Filippone.

Gloria graduated from Wilby High school in 1950 where she was president of the Wilby High School Italian club in her senior year. After she met Sam they settled in Orange, CT where she raised her family. She was a parishioner of Holy Infant Church. For many years, she was employed by Atlas Moving and Storage and National Grinding Sales as a secretary. Her greatest enjoyment, however, was being a homemaker. She always had dinner ready, but the special time was Sunday dinner working around what time the Giants played. She loved cooking traditional Italian meals passed down from her mother. Holidays were always a special treat with family time and big four course meals. Family vacations were the highlight of summertime where the family would take many camping trips and vacations together. Her loving nature was prevalent throughout that time making sure all her kids had what they needed and rides to wherever they needed to go. She was also a true hockey mom going to all her boy’s games. She and Sam retired to Inverness, Florida. After Sam’s passing, she stayed in Florida where she hosted all of her children as they would vacation to see their mom. She spent her remaining years back home in Connecticut. Being around her grandchildren was always a special joy for her.

Visitation will be held on Monday morning February 27th from 9-10:30 at the West Haven Funeral Home at the Green. Her funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 10:30. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Holy Infant Church at 11 o’clock. Interment will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery. Donations may be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
