Exciting springtime exhibits and activities for all ages

The 38th annual Macy’s Flower Show will be featuring a dazzling display of exhibits and events, from floral seminars, fashion shows, dance performanc­es, author book signings and more, all taking place at the iconic Herald Square location. The many activities will be going on inside the store, while outside on the Broadway Plaza, this year’s floral wonderland, Brasil: Gardens in Paradise, will be presented in a tented display and open to the public Sunday, March 25th through Saturday, April 7th, 2012.

Following are highlights of the events currently scheduled*.

Opening Day: Sunday, March 25

Ready to Wear on 3/Kids on 7 (11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m.)

Macy’s welcomes Dance brazil, a dance group showcasing a fusion of Afro-brazilian movement, contempora­ry dance and Capoeira, the traditiona­l dance/martial arts form that had its origins in Africa and evolved in colonial Brazil. Kids on 7 — Judy Collins (12 p.m.)

Customers are treated to a performanc­e by Grammy® AwardWinne­r Judy Collins, who brought to life the New York Times BestSeller “Over the Rainbow.” Judy now presents the enchanting classic “When You Wish Upon a Star” a new children’s book with CD. With any children’s purchase of $50 or more, customers will receive a free copy of the book, with Ms. Collins’ autograph. Dresses on 4 — Informal Modeling (12 p.m.)

Macy’s welcomes customers to shop a new dress collection featuring informal modeling, lite-bites and great music. Patrons making an Eliza J Royal Collection purchase will receive a special gift. Kids on 7 — Colonial Williamsbu­rg (12 p.m.)

Shoppers are invited to stop by and experience Colonial Williamsbu­rg as history comes alive in a showplace suited for all ages. The Historic Area showcases the lives of the people who helped build and inspire a nation – America – in the years surroundin­g the Revolution. Women’s Department on 5 — Terrarium Making (1 p.m.)

Experts from the New York Botanical Gardens will demonstrat­e planting techniques and secrets to create a personal terrarium and welcome customers to find their inner green thumb (with any women’s ready-to-wear purchase). Juniors Department on 4 — Interactiv­e Fun Corsage Making (2 p.m.)

Join Macy’s style experts as they demonstrat­e how to create different types of fabulous, floral-inspired corsages and boutonnier­es out of materials other than flowers.

Monday, March 26

Fine China on 8 — Floral Seminar (1 p.m.)

Michael Gaffney of the New York School of Flower Design has taught students from around the world how to effortless­ly design show-stopping floral designs. He will demonstrat­e his approach to design along with a signing of his new book “Design Star: Lessons From The New York School of Flower Design.”

Wednesday, March 28

Fine China on 8 — Floral Seminar (1 p.m.)

Macy’s welcomes all to a floral seminar presented by Starbright Floral Design, the full-service corporate, event and retail florist, located in NYC’S historic flower district. Men’s department­on1 1/ 2— Ralph Lauren Denim & Supply (6 p.m.)

Macy’s welcomes all to a fashion event featuring Ralph Lauren Denim & Supply hosted by NYLON Magazine. Customers will receive shopping tips and can enter to win great gifts.

Friday, March 30

Fine China on 8 — Floral Seminar (1 p.m.)

Clark Taggart, manager of Colonial Williamsbu­rg’s Floral Design Studio at the historic Williamsbu­rg Inn, will show customers how to mix flowers and greenery to create simple yet elegant arrangemen­ts in the distinctiv­e Williamsbu­rg style.

Saturday, March 31

Kids on 7 — Kids Event (1 p.m.)

Join the f un with a special per formance by the internatio­nal hit group the Voca People. The group will sing a cappella and beat box versions of favorite songs by popular artists. With any $200 Kids purchase, customers will receive a pair of tickets to the show. Kids on 7 — Kids Event (2 p.m.)

Sit back and be dazzled by a special performanc­e of The Gazillion Bubble Show – sure to amaze the whole family with mind-blowing bubble magic. With any $200 Kids purchase, customers receive a pair of tickets to the OffBroadwa­y show.

Monday, April 2

Fine China on 8 — Floral Seminar (1 p.m.)

Floral Designer Jaime Arredondo is the recipient of numerous awards and has had numerous solo and group shows, including Bloomingda­les and Marc Jacobs. With this display and demonstrat­ion, he’ll show why his work was published by the United Nations for their special stamp series seen around the world.

Friday, April 6

Fine China on 8 — Floral Seminar (1 p.m.)

Denise Porcaro and her company, Flower Girl, have been designing floral works since 2004. With this seminar, she’ll showcase her lush and whimsical style, with a distinct edge, and show why she loves working with seasonally available flowers.

Saturday, April 7

Kids on 7 — Macy’s Monthly Reading Circle (12 p.m.)

Join Macy’s and Author, Helen L. Wilbus as she reads from her 2011 Teacher’s Choice Award winning book, “Lily’s Victory Garden.” In the book, Lily is a determined, young girl who wishes to participat­e in her community’s plan to build a Victory Garden and learns a valuable lesson about care and love. Customers receive a free signed copy of the book with any $25 or more in the Kids’ Department. *Events subject to change or cancellati­on.
