Fidelis Care’s Programs Provide Needed Health Coverage Through All Stages of Life

Fidelis Care is the not-for-profit New York State Catholic Health Plan that provides quality, affordable health coverage to nearly 750,000 children and adults in 59 counties Statewide. Fidelis Care’s mission is to ensure that every resident, regardless of income, age, religion, gender or ethnic background, has access to quality, affordable health coverage, provided with dignity and respect.

Fidelis Care is the largest government programs-based health plan in the State and serves members through an extensive and growing network of more than 48,000 providers. Fidelis Care’s programs provide needed health coverage, and peace of mind, through all stages of life.

Fidelis Care Child Health Plus provides affordable health insurance for children under the age of 19. There are more than 343,000 uninsured children in New York State, and Child Health Plus can play an important role in greatly reducing this number. Through Child Health Plus, children are covered for regular checkups, immunizations, routine dental and eye care, prescriptions, hospital and emergency care and more. Nearly every child in New York State qualifies for coverage, and Child Health Plus features a sliding premium scale that is based on household income.

To give children a healthy start in life, Fidelis Care places an emphasis on regular wellness visits and preventive care for members. In observance of National Infant Immunization Week (April 21-28) Fidelis Care, and its nearly 2,900 pediatric providers across the State, urge parents to ensure that their children’s vaccinations are up-to-date. Immunizing an infant is one of the most important steps a parent can take to safeguard their child’s health.

Fidelis Care Family Health Plus is for uninsured adults, ages 19-64, who are residents of New York State and who are not eligible for Medicaid. Members are covered for hospital and emergency care, prescription drugs, dental checkups, eye exams, glasses and more.

Fidelis Care Medicaid Managed Care is nocost health coverage that New York families can rely on. Fidelis Care Medicaid Managed Care is an easy-to-use health plan that covers hospital and emergency care, maternity care (ask about Fidelis Care’s Babycare program), dental care (in some areas), eye exams, eye glasses and more.

Members participating in Fidelis Care’s Child Health Plus, Family Health Plus, and Medicaid Managed Care programs receive care from their own primary care physicians whom they know and trust. Fidelis Care members have the security of knowing that no matter where they travel in the State, there is a participating provider nearby.

Seniors are served t hrough Fidelis Care’s Medicare Advantage and Dual Advantage plans.

Fidelis Care offers two Medicare Advantage plans that feature low copays for primary care and specialist doctors visits and no-cost preventative screenings and labs. Plans are available with or without prescription drug coverage, as well as an option for flex spending benefits, to provide seniors with affordable choices that meet their personal health care needs.

Seniors that qualify for both Medicare and Medicaid are served through Fidelis Care’s Dual Advantage plans. These plans feature a low monthly premium, that may be reduced through a low-income subsidy. Dual Advantage plans feature no primary care or specialist copays, no deductible for outpatient surgery performed in a hospital or ambulatory surgical center, no inpatient copay for hospitalization; as well as no out of pocket costs for labs, X-rays, preventative services, or radiological services (including MRIS, CT Scans and PET Scans). In addition, Dual Advantage plans provide Part D prescription drug coverage. One Dual Advantage plan even features a $400 annual flex benefit, as well as a $25 monthly over the counter benefit card.

Fidelis Care offers two Managed Long Term Care programs called Fidelis Care at Home and Medicaid Advantage Plus. These programs help adults who would otherwise be eligible for nursing home level of care, remain safely in their homes for as long as possible. The Fidelis Care at Home program was recently expanded to include the five boroughs of New York City and Albany, Schenectady, Rensselaer and Montgomery counties. Applications have been submitted to offer Fidelis Care at Home in every county and are awaiting approval from the New York State Department of Health.
