David Hinckley recommends killing time with ‘The Killing’
1 “Queen Elizabeth Diamond Jubilee Pageant”
(Sunday, 9 a.m., BBCA) This is a parade of sorts, only it goes down the Thames and the participants are all boats. It’s part of the buildup to the Olympics, but should be quite the spectacle on its own.
2 “The Killing” (AMC, Sun
day, 9 p.m.) Things are getting creepier and more dangerous for Sarah Linden as we approach the end of season two. This series is consistently crafted in wonderful ways.
3 “Mad Men” (AMC, Sunday,
10 p.m.) Next to last week of season five; where has it all gone so fast?
4 “Longmire” (Sunday, 10
p.m., A&E) We’ve already got several good shows on cops with problems, but we can always use another good one, and “Longmire” is it.
5 “Chris Isaak: Beyond the Sun” (PBS, Sunday, 10:30
p.m.) Veteran singer takes us through the tunes from Sun Records in Memphis.
6 “Pretty Little Liars” (Tuesday, ABC Famly, 8 p.m.) Entertaining teen melodrama starts season three, with the “A” mystery sort of resolved.
7 “Rizzoli & Isles” (Tuesday,
TNT, 9 p.m.) As the new season begins, Isles is a little upset that Rizzoli shot her father. But naturally it’s a little more complicated than just that.
8 “Royal Pains”
(Wednesday, 9 p.m., USA). Season four starts just about the time the real-life season is getting under way in the Hamptons.
“Pretty Little Liars”
9 “Rebel Without a Cause”
(Thursday, midnight, TCM) The classic 1955 movie about restless youth, with three stars — Natalie Wood, James Dean, Sal Mineo — whose real-life stories were even more tragic.
10 The Belmont Stakes
(Saturday, NBC, 5 p.m. ) Any time there’s a shot at a Triple Crown, the Belmont becomes must-see TV.
