Dad gave tots ‘loving’ goodbye, then killed them
HE PICKED up his 2-year-old daughter, hugged and kissed her, and begged her forgiveness.
Then he repeatedly plunged a knife into little Daniela, killing the defenseless tot.
Compounding the evil, Miguel Mejia-Ramos repeated the sick act, butchering his other daughter, 1-year-old Yoselin, who minutes before had been sleeping next to her older sister.
The shocking details emerged Wednesday after authorities say he admitted to killing his wife, Deisy Garcia, in their Queens home and then stabbing their daughters to death.
“I’ve seen a lot in my 23 years as district attorney but there is nothing that disturbs me more than seeing young children — in this case mere babies — as homicide victims,” said Queens District Attorney Richard Brown, who went to the scene of the Sat- urday night horror.
Mejia-Ramos, 29, was busted 1,700 miles away in Texas on Monday night. Law enforcement sources traced cell phone calls to Mexico and believe he was trying to get to his native Mexico when he was caught. He was charged with murder and is expected to be brought back to New York for arraignment on Friday. He faces life in prison if convicted of killing his family.
NYPD detectives, who flew to Texas e as a and d interviewed te v e ed t the sus- pect, said Mejia-Ramos told them he was out drinking with friends Saturday night. He returned to the family home on Sutphin Blvd. in Jamaica around 11 p.m.
He went through his wife’s phone and Facebook account and snapped after seeing a photo of her with another man. He flew into a rage, grabbing a knife from a butcher block and marching into the bedroom where his wife was sleeping. Prosecutors say the accused killer stabbed 21-yearold Garcia when she woke up and screamed upon seeing him. He used another knife to stab her again when she ran to the front of the room — twisting the blade in her side until it broke.
That’s when the monster went into the girls’ room and allegedly killed them.
Garcia’s 12-year-old cousin, hoping to play with the babies, made the grim discovery on Sunday. The dead sisters were lying in bed next to each other and covered with a blanket, relatives said.
The mom was stabbed in the head, chest and arms. Daniela was stabbed several times in her chest, back, left arm and right hand. Baby Yoselin was stabbed in the chest. Cops found four knives and a bent blade and handle covered in blood.
Relatives and friends said Mejia-Ramos abused his wife, who reported two incidents last year, telling cops the brute kicked her in the head and pulled her hair.
