Cardinal Spellman High School is a Roman Catholic school located on a beautiful, 13acre campus in the Bronx.
Spellman offers a program of studies and activities to prepare each of its approximately 1,400 young men and women for personal success in college and in life. Advanced Placement courses and college credit courses are available to qualified students allowing them the opportunity to earn as much as one year of college credits while still in high school. In addition, Spellman also offers a wide variety of elective courses affording each student the chance to grow towards his or her full and unique potential.
In addition to providing strong academic preparation for college, Spellman also helps to further develop the social skills necessary for the demands of college life. Since Spellman is a large co-ed school, it offers its students a step forward toward a more college-like environment. This gives Spellman students the opportunity to continue to develop their social skills beyond the small school set ting they have left behind, while still s receiving the suppor p t of a nur turing environment. e
Invitations to take Spellman's S Academic Scholarship S Exam are awa a rded to the top 10% 1 of students with distinguished d elementar t y school records who w took the TACHS and a selected Cardinal Spellman as one of their choices. choices Students meeting these criteria will find a letter of invitation included in their acceptance packet. Academic scholarship winners will be selected based on the results achieved on the Spellman Scholarship Exam.
Merit scholarships are award awarded to select individuals based on an essay written by the candidate, a student questionnaire and teacher recommendations attesting to leadership, community service and responsibility.
Cardinal Spellman High School offers its students more than 50 clubs and extracurricular activities. In addition, Spellman offers an extensive sports program that includes ba sketball, football, soccer, track and field, volleyball, lacrosse, baseball, cheerleading, bowling and softball.
