For more than 60 years, Monsignor Scanlan High School has offered a quality, values-based education to the children of St. Helena Parish and the wider community of the Bronx and Queens. Monsignor Scanlan High School is a Catholic, co-educational secondary school dedicated to the vision of its founder, Rev. Msgr. Arthur J. Scanlan. It celebrates traditional Christian values and the diversity of society; provides an education, which emphasizes high academic standards, social awareness and spiritual development; creates a family atmosphere that challenges, yet nurtures; cultivates an appreciation for the worth and dignity of every individual; fosters dedication to community service; and develops a life-long commitment to the realization of maximum personal potential.

We believe that all children can learn and meet high expectations given the proper support and guidance. We offer a level for every learner including our Academy Program for advanced placement and honors students. All students meet or exceed the New York State requirements for a Regents or Advanced Regents Diploma. A limited number of freshmen participate in our satellite program, which provides additional instruction in math and reading.

We currently offer Advanced Placement courses in European history, American history, American politics, biology, English and Spanish literature.

We offer a wide variety of extracurricular activities, including Knitting for Others, health and wellness, international culture club, Spirit Haiti and the pro-life club. Our students may qualify for the National Honor Society, as well as subject-specific honor societies in English, math, Spanish, science and social studies. Athletic instruction and competition is offered at the varsity and juniorvarsity levels for boys and girls. Competitive sports include baseball, sof tball, track, basketball, volleyball and soccer. In 2013 the baseball team won the city championship, the J.V. basketball team won the city championship and varsity basketball won the state championship. The campus houses a state-of-the-art baseball field, softball field and soccer field.

In 2013, 100% of our seniors graduated and 95% were accepted into the college of their choice. They received $6.5 million in scholarships and grants.
