St. Brigid School

Since 1856, St. Brigid School has been an integral part of the East Village through its emphasis in a complete education. Located at the corner of Tompkins Square Park, St. Brigid School provides its students from pre-K through eighth grade with a safe and welcoming learning environmen­t, where every child is given the oppor tunity to reach his/her potential and become critical thinkers and impassione­d members of the community. With varying master’s d degrees i in childhild hood education, our faculty serves as both instructio­nal leaders and role models for our youth. There is a prevalent familial atmosphere and school culture. We encourage our families to be partners in their children’s education. There is regular dialogue between teachers and parents of both the challenges the successes of our children. Because learning is personal and collaborat­ive, we maintain small class sizes in each of the grades to ensure that our students are given the individual­ized attention that they deserve in their academic and moral developmen­t.

Our Early Childhood Program accepts children aged 3 and 4 with student-teacher ratios maxed at 9:1. The pre-K curriculum focuses on literacy, math, values and classroom preparatio­n. The arts-enriched program enables students to learn by expressing themselves t through painting, d drawing, music and d dance. Center based i ins truc tion at St .
