Archdiocese of New York Building For the Future

Faith, Community and Academic Excellence Have Always Been Hallmarks of a Catholic Education

-

These values have remained steadfast throughout the archdiocese’s long and distinguished history of providing a Christcentered education – one that focuses on educating the mind, body and soul of a child.

While we’re maintaining those traditional values, at the same time, we’re embracing the 21st Century through modernized systems that meet the needs of today’s families. For more than 200 years, our core fundamentals have stood the test of time and worked everywhere, providing high quality education from the bustling neighborhoods of the Bronx and Staten Island to the quiet hamlets of Ulster and Dutchess counties – and the countless communities in between.

Today, the Archdiocese of New York educates nearly 72,000 students in 218 elementary and secondary schools and in excellent early childhood programs. In fact, the Archdiocese of New York is one of the largest providers of early childhood programs in the metropolitan area with more than 7,500 children in pre-K3, pre-K4 and free universal pre-kindergarten (UPK) programs.

Our nationally recognized schools prepare students to be able to reach their full potential in life – intellectually, spiritually and physically. Of our high school seniors, 98% graduate and 96% go on to postsecondary education. Our graduates have gone on to become respected leaders in their communities and in the fields of law, finance, education, technology, public service, civil service, athletics and just about every other profession imaginable.

We are committed to keeping our schools excellent, affordable and accessible. We celebrate diversity in a community of shared values and welcome children of all backgrounds. Our faith-based mission hasn’t changed because it works.

As we restructure our schools in newly defined regions and continue our commitment to professional development for our dedicated teachers, we have also instituted new programs to introduce new families to our schools. This year, in every region, universal open houses – called Touring Tuesdays – were created for parents to learn more about Catholic education and assist them in the enrollment process.

Touring Tuesdays are set for Feb. 11, March 11 and May 13 from 9 to 11 a.m. to make it easier for busy parents to tour our schools, meet our exceptional faculty and witness a Catholic education in action. Reservations are required and can be made online at www.BuildBoldFutures.org, or by calling the bilingual phone line (646) 794-2885.

Our website, www.BuildBoldFutures.org, makes it easier for parents to find and interact with school representatives who can schedule tours and advise them throughout the enrollment process. The archdiocese has made a commitment to provide the highest level of customer service for all families to ensure individual schools have the resources necessary to reach the next generation of Catholic students.

By providing continuing education for our faculty and staff, the archdiocese is ensuring that lifelong learning isn’t only for the students. When our educators are empowered to improve their courses and curriculums, our students reap the rewards.

Catholic schools have historically been a gateway out of pover ty for diverse populations. populations Because this continues to be an important role for the archdiocese, bilingual operators are available 24/7 and a robust community outreach program and scholarships are available for underserved Hispanic-Latino children in an initiative co-sponsored by The University of Notre Dame.

Through these bold efforts, the archdiocese is reshaping and adapting our approach to meet today’s needs while reinforcing our time-honored traditions. A Catholic education is an investment that pays invaluable dividends. It starts in the classroom and continues for a lifetime.

We invite you to become part of our Catholic community. To learn more, visit our website, www.BuildBoldFutures.org, or call our 24-hour bilingual hotline at (646) 794-2885.
