Crosby nets NHL honors

Sidney Crosby won his second Hart Trophy as the NHL’s most valuable player Tuesday night at the league’s postseason awards ceremony in Las Vegas. Crosby also collected the Art Ross Trophy as the league scoring champion and the Ted Lindsay Award as the players’ choice for top player.

Boston goalie Tuukka Rask won the Vezina Trophy, and Bruins teammate Patrice Bergeron won his second Selke Trophy as the NHL’s best defensive forward. Chicago’s Duncan Keith won his second Norris Trophy as the league’s top defenseman. Colorado coach Patrick Roy won the Adams Award, while Avalanche forward Nathan MacKinnon became the youngest player to win the Calder Trophy as the NHL’s top rookie.

Dominic Moore of the Rangers won the Masterton Trophy, an award for perseveran­ce, sportsmans­hip and dedication to hockey. Moore returned to the NHL this season after sitting out a year to be with his wife, Katie, who died from a rare form of liver cancer in January of 2013.

VIRGINIA ALL EVEN WITH VANDY

In Omaha, Neb., Brandon Waddell limited Vanderbilt to five hits in his first nine-inning complete game, Virginia knocked out first-round draft pick Tyler Beede in the seventh, and the Cavaliers evened the College World Series finals with a 7-2 victory. Each team will be playing for its first national title in baseball in the winner-take-all Game 3 on Wednesday night.
