Daughter’s tapes capture chilling ‘honor slay’ vow
THE DAUGHTER of a Brooklyn cabbie testified Thursday for a second day about secret recordings she made of her father promising to kill her lover’s family “one by one” if she didn’t return to Pakistan and her arranged marriage.
Mohammed Ajmal Choudhry, 61, is charged with making good on his threat, orchestrating the murders of her lover’s father and sister in Pakistan in February 2013.
Amina Ajmal, 23, dropped a bombshell on the witness stand, re- vealing that one of her three sisters also ran away from home.
“I have been humiliated two times, both over here (Brooklyn) and there (Pakistan),” Choudhry whines, according to a transcript of the recorded conversation on a week before the horrific fic crimes.
“I am a man with no honor. My daughters are re whores.”
The so-called “honor or killings” were carried out so Choudhry could save face among his neighbors, prosecutors say. “I have been humiliated in front of the entire community and my siblings,” Choudhry tells his daughter. “Just come ho home and save me from this humiliation. Until I find you, I won’t stop . . . . I am going to kill their whole family ... one by one.”
But Amina, who escaped from Pakistan with the help of her true love, Shujat Abbas, and officials at the U.S. Consulate, remained defiant. “I am not coming home, Daddy,” she said, according to the transcript.
Amina told Assistant U.S. Attorney Amanda Hector that she has filed for an annulment from Abrar Ahmed Babar, the man her father selected to be her husband.
The prosecutor asked the current status of her relationship with Abbas. “I want to marry him,” she said. Asked if she still loves her father, Ajmal responded softly: “Yes.”
