Snowden: In Russia, with love
ANOTHER SECRET was revealed about U.S. government whistleblower Edward Snowden — his longtime girlfriend has joined him in exile.
Gal pal Lindsay Mills moved into his apartment in Moscow in July, a detail that was revealed in the new documentary, “Citizenfour.”
The couple was reunited in the Russian capital, which granted a three-year asylum residency to Snowden after he began leaking classified information from the National Security Agency in June 2013.
Though Mills is not interviewedvi and does not speak in the film,fil directed by Laura Poitras, theth revelation casts aside rumors thatth the pair had split or that SnowdenSn had abandoned her.
Snowden praised his loyal partnerne on Saturday during an online interviewin with The New Yorker.
“It was an incredible reunion be because she understood and that m meant a lot to me,” Snowden said of reconnecting with Mills, who never talked to media after the leaks.
“She had a very, very challenging year,” he continued. “It was a meeting I’ll never forget.”
She is seen in one segment of the documentary preparing dinner with Snowden in a wood-paneled kitchen, according to AFP.
The nearly two-hour film, which follows the fugitive holing up in a Hong Kong hotel after he blows the lid off of confidential government surveillance intel, premiered in New York on Friday.
