No. 5 Baylor tops TCU in shootout

WACO, Tex. — Chris Callahan kicked a 28-yard field goal as time expired and No. 5 Baylor wiped out a 21-point deficit in the final 11 minutes to beat No. 9 TCU, 61-58.

Bryce Petty threw six touchdown passes for the Bears (6-0, 3-0 Big 12), including a 25-yarder to Corey Coleman with 4:42 left in the fourth that tied it at 58. Petty passed for 510 yards and threw two intercepti­ons.

TCU moved to midfield and faced fourth-and-3 from the Baylor 45 with 1:17 left in the fourth. Instead of punting, the Horned Frogs elected to try to keep the ball and end it in regulation.

Trevone Boykin tossed a sideline fade toward Josh Doctson that the receiver couldn’t come up with.

NOTRE DAME 50, NORTH CAROLINA 43: Everett Golson threw three touchdown passes to overcome his three turnovers that led to North Carolina (2-4) scores and host Notre Dame (6-0) remained unbeaten heading into next week’s showdown at No. 1 Florida State.

ALABAMA 14, ARKANSAS 13: Blake Sims threw two touchdown passes and No. 7 Alabama (5-1, 2-1) beat host Arkansas (3-3, 0-3) to avoid its second straight SEC loss.

MICHIGAN ST. 45, PURDUE 31: Connor Cook threw three touchdown passes, Nick Hill ran for two scores, and Darien Harris had a late intercepti­on return for a touchdown to help No. 8 Michigan State (5-1, 2-0 Big Ten) hold off Purdue (3-4, 1-1) in West Lafayette, Ind.

OKLAHOMA 31, TEXAS 26: Alex Ross had a 91-yard kickoff return for a touchdown, Zack Sanchez scored on a 43-yard intercepti­on return and No. 11 Oklahoma (5-1, 2-1 Big 12) held on for another bounce-back victory under coach Bob Stoops, beating Texas (2-4, 1-2) in the Red River rivalry in Dallas.

OREGON 42, UCLA 30: Marcus Mariota ran for two touchdowns and passed for 210 yards and two more scores to help No. 12 Oregon ( 5-1, 2-1 Pac-12) rebound from its first loss with the win at No. 18 UCLA (4-2, 1-2), which has lost back-to-back games.

GEORGIA 34, MISSOURI 0: Hutson Mason completed 22 of 28 passes for 156 yards and a touchdown and ran for another score in No. 13 Georgia’s first game without suspended running back Todd Gurley. Freshman Nick Chubb rushed 38 times for 143 yards and a touchdown as the visiting Bulldogs (5-1, 3-1 SEC) wore down the Tigers (4-2, 1-1) early.

OKLAHOMA STATE 27, KANSAS 20: Tyreek Hill returned a kickoff 99 yards for a fourth-quarter touchdown, and No. 16 Oklahoma State (5-1, 3-0 Big 12) held on to win at Kansas (2-4, 0-3).

DUKE 31, GEORGIA TECH 25: Anthony Boone threw for 123 yards and a touchdown, Josh Sneed ran for 102 yards and a score, and visiting Duke (5-1, 1-1 ACC) snapped a 10-year losing streak against No. 22 Georgia Tech (5-1, 2-1).
