Special part of Italy is coming to Eataly

-

New to the scene…

You don’t have to say ciao to New York to get a taste of Italy. Parts of the Duomo Di Milano (Milan Cathedral) are temporarily relocating to Eataly in Flatiron. An array of statues, gargoyles and pinnacles from the iconic Gothic cathedral will be on display at the Italian food emporium starting Wednesday, and remain for six months. The exhibit, “Eataly per Duomo,” celebrates Expo 2015, a food festival in Milan. The exhibit will include pieces like the statue of Santa Lucia. “We, as Italians, all have a duty to preserve the legacy of our past by sharing it with the world,” says Eataly founder Oscar Farinetti. A brief description will accompany each piece of art, and foodies will be able to purchase tickets to the Expo that takes place May through October of next year. Cocktails include the Dan Smith Will Teach You Guitar, named after the New Yorker who posted ads all over the city; It’s made with Quinquina, an aperitif wine, and a plum shrub, a vinegar-based syrup.
