- Analyst LAUREN LAWRENCE reveals the secrets behind Daily News readers’ dreams

ALWAYS PROTECTIVE OF DAD I dreamt I was staying at my (recently deceased) father’s house in Florida. He was asleep in one of the rooms. I saw some guy trying to get in the open window. I reached through the window, hit him with a box and then closed the window. When I went outside I saw there was a bigger guy with him and I clubbed him with a baseball bat. Please decode this dream.

Analysis: Staying at your deceased father’s house represents the wish to perpetuate his presence in the psyche and remain close to the paternal foundation that informed your selfhood. On some level you may feel that you failed your father. This explains the poignant need to protect him while he sleeps. Ever vigilant by the open window of living, you want nothing more than to shield your father from death’s intrusion. In this view, anger over loss is externalized and retribution is fulfilled: Death is beaten down.

DWELLING ON HER DREAMS OF HOUSES For months I’ve been dreaming of moving into or trying to buy houses. In some dreams I am living in a small house but keep finding hidden rooms. In the other dreams I am living in a big house but it is also occupied with elderly people. Or I am living in a house and I am scared for my life. Please let me know what this means.

Gloria William, New York

Analysis: In that houses define sense of self, buying new houses reveals maturational or ideational growth processes that necessitate change. Hidden rooms suggest there is more to you than meets the eye, but also indicate repressed material. The domestic variation of scope and dimension represents the different stages of life: A small house signifies youth; a big house, old age. Expressing fear and finality is a significant reversal of the maxim: In with the old and out with the new. LET LAUREN INTERPRET YOUR DREAM!
