Fat shamers are real losers

-

THIS WHOLE obsession that everyone has with celebrities and their weight has gotten out of control. Some TV hosts have apologized after calling Kelly Clarkson (below) fat, while others have been downright offensive when describing how skinny E! host Giuliana Rancic (l.) is. Enough is enough. Our bodies are beautiful no matter what size or shape. And yes, we wish we were 5 pounds thinner. Sue us.

KLG : If they’re honest, people will tell you that keeping a body in shape it is a lifelong discipline. And yes, some people take it too far. There’s so many terrible, old jokes about this stuff.

HK: Ha! I’m one stomach flu away from my goal weight! It’s upsetting to think there are people out there shaming others — calling them too fat or too skinny — and I honestly can’t even believe that they are spending their time focusing on how much someone like Kelly, Giuliana, Bethenny Frankel (r.) or Candice Bergen weighs.

KLG: I’ve gained a pound a year ever since I got married — that’s 28 pounds, baby. And that’s after two children and menopause — which, by the way, is when it all goes to hell — you miss what you used to have. I get that. But the shaming thing is just wrong. And cruel.

HK: I think that weight is a button for a lot of us. I think that for most of my adult life — especially when on the air — you’re very aware of what your body looks like. My very first news director told me to get on a treadmill, and I thought he was just kidding. In my head, I was an athlete and always fancied myself as someone who was healthy, but in truth was actually overweight at around 170 pounds.

KLG: But you’re 5-foot-9! HK: I still remembered it not computing all the way. Look, I’ve been teased about my weight. But even being normal sized is still a struggle; you still need to work out and eat right.

KLG: And then menopause. And no matter how much you work out and eat the body goes. It’s chemical. And I don’t want to take drugs. I don’t want to take hormone replacement. And my body looks different than it used to. I don’t love it all the time, but it’s mine.

HK: Back to the shaming thing; leave Kelly Clarkson alone. She had a baby nine months ago. Get over it. And leave Giuliana Rancic alone; she takes tamoxifen, a heavy-duty cancer drug. Enough already. That’s it. Stop.
