Archie outduels Kershaw in debut

PHOENIX — Archie Bradley (1-0) made a dazzling major league debut, allowing one hit over six innings to outpitch Clayton Kershaw as the Diamondbac­ks beat the Dodgers, 6-0.

The seventh pick of the 2011 amateur draft, Bradley struck out six, walked four and singled for his first hit.

CARDINALS 4, REDS 1: Matt Adams delivered his first home run of the season and visiting St. Louis snapped Cincinnati’s season-opening winning streak at four. Kolten Wong drove in a run with a sacrifice fly, Jhonny Peralta and Yadier Molina added ninth-inning run-scoring singles and Michael Wacha pitched into the seventh inning.

PADRES 10, GIANTS 2: New Padres ace James Shields was masterful in outpitchin­g October nemesis Madison Bumgarner, who lasted only three innings in host San Diego’s win.

Shields (1-0) held the Giants to one run and three hits in seven innings, struck out seven and walked one for his first victory with the Padres. He signed as a free agent in February. He combined with two relievers to hold the Giants to five hits. Bumgarner (1-1), the World Series MVP, allowed five runs and 10 hits to the Padres’ new-look offense.

CUBS 9, ROCKIES 5: Chris Coghlan and Mike Olt hit consecutiv­e solo homers in the third inning, Dexter Fowler had two triples and host Colorado dropped to 4-1.

PHILLIES 3, NATIONALS 2 (10): In Philly, Odubel Herrera doubled home the winning run in the 10th inning with his first major league hit.

BREWERS 6, PIRATES 0: Jimmy Nelson struck out a careerhigh nine in seven innings and Jean Segura hit a two-run homer as host Milwaukee became the last team in the majors to win this season.

RAYS 2, MARLINS 0: Chris Archer pitched seven crisp innings for visiting Tampa Bay. Archer (1-1) allowed one hit and one walk, with the latter runner erased trying to steal, while throwing only 84 pitches. Two relievers completed the two-hitter, with Brad Boxberger pitching the ninth for his second save in two chances.

WHITE SOX 5, TWINS 4: Pinch-hitter J.B. Shuck had a goahead RBI single in the eighth inning to give host Chicago its first win of the season. Former Yankees closer David Robertson struck out the side in the ninth for his first save with the White Sox.

MARINERS 5, A’S 4 (11): Nelson Cruz hit his first home run for visiting Seattle and Brad Miller threw out a runner at the plate in the 10th inning and doubled in the go-ahead run in the 11th.

TIGERS 9, INDIANS 6: Ian Kinsler hit an RBI single and Yoenis Cespedes doubled in two runs during a four-run ninth inning as visiting Detroit (5-0) stayed unbeaten. Kinsler’s fourth hit — a single off closer Cody Allen (0-1) — snapped a 5-all tie.

ORIOLES 7, BLUE JAYS 1: In Baltimore, Ubaldo Jimenez struck out eight and allowed one single over seven sparkling innings, and Jonathan Schoop hit a grand slam. Alejandro De Aza and Chris Davis also homered for the Orioles.

RANGERS 6, ASTROS 2: Yovani Gallardo won his home debut for his hometown team, striking out seven in 5.2 innings.

ROYALS 6, ANGELS 4: Mike Moustakas and Salvador Perez homered during a five-run fourth inning against Jered Weaver (0-2), and visiting Kansas City improved to 5-0.
