Manziel out of rehab

Browns QB Johnny Manziel was released from a rehab facility Saturday after more than 10 weeks, a person familiar with the situation told The Associated Press. The 2012 Heisman Trophy winner from Texas A&M entered the undisclose­d clinic, which specialize­s in drug and alcohol rehabilita­tion, on Jan. 28 for treatment of an unspecifie­d problem.

Manziel is expected to participat­e in Cleveland’s offseason workouts beginning April 20, the person said.

Manziel had been allowed to leave for short periods over the past month and visited a hospital earlier in the week as part of his treatment program. Browns owner Jimmy Haslam and coach

Mike Pettine have publicly pledged their support of Manziel, emphasizin­g that his personal recovery comes ahead of football.

CHARGING TOWARD DERBY

American Pharoah pulled away in the stretch for an eightlengt­h win in the $1 million Arkansas Derby, setting the stage for the colt’s position as the likely Kentucky Derby favorite next month. Trained by Bob Baffert , American Pharoah went off as the 1-9 favorite in the eight-horse field at Oaklawn Park.

Ridden by Victor Espinoza , American Pharoah left the field in his wake around the final turn. The colt paid $2.20, $2.20 and $2.10. Far Right returned $2.80 and $2.40, and Mr. Z paid $3.80 .

HEAT ON BRINK

Lou Williams scored 29 points, DeMar DeRozan added 24 and visiting Toronto put Miami on the brink of playoff eliminatio­n with a 107-104 victory. The Raptors clinched home-court advantage in the first round.
