Sex education with big twist

-

Is it love or is it the irresistible lure of jailbait?

On Friday night, Barbara Walters interviewed old (and young) marrieds Mary Kay Letourneau and her former sixth-grade lover/student and current husband Vili Fualaau.

Despite the fact that the happy couple (celebrating its 10th anniversary) has two teen daughters, their love was hard won. After all , it’s not often that even true love stands the test of time — especially when the boy is 12, and his sixth-grade teacher/ lover is a married, 34-year-old mother of four.

How many pubescent boys, after all, would remain in love while Teach does seven years in the can, and gives birth to two of the kid’s kids while she’s doing time? Ah, young/ old love.

Enduring love is rare among gorgeous teachers and children, yes, but hot sex isn’t. And the more beautiful, hot and blond the teacher, the more common it seems to be.

On Thursday, beautiful — blond! — 32-year-old mother of three Shelley Dufresne, a teacher from Louisiana, got off (so to speak) for having sex with her 16-year-old student.

Unrepentant, Dufresne made the giant mistake of posting happy-faced selfies online. We all know how much kids love happy-face emoticons!

Remember Debra Lafave, who had sex with a 14-year-old student? (French last names are emerging as a pattern here!) The absolutely stunning, sex-crazed blond teacher is so good-looking that her idiot lawyer said she was too hot for jail. The judge, another fool for the cool blond, seemingly agreed and gave her probation.

Smarty (hot) pants, Pamela Smart, the original sleazy blond teacher, went one step further after hooking up with 15-year-old student Billy Flynn.

She convinced Flynn and three of his pals to kill her husband — and got life for the plot.

Teacher Shannon Alicia Schmieder, 39, got 40 years — the equivalent of manslaughter — for bedding a 13-year-old student.

OK, back to Mary Kay and Vili. I asked a guy who knows all about them, former New York City detective-turned-movie producer Sonny Grosso, who made the USA Network movie, “All-American Girl: The Mary Kay Letourneau Story.”

Hard-nosed Sonny was surprisingly soft when it came to the couple.

“When I first brought the story in 2000,” he said, “it was very controversial. But I wanted to show all sides and aspects and explore the complicated relationship without being judgmental. I know as a former New York City detective that nothing is ever as black and white as it seems.” What? Had someone kidnapped the real Sonny Grosso?

“I had many conversations with Mary and Vili,” he continued, “as well as his mother. He turned out to be a nice guy — which I tried to incorporate into the movie and let the audience make up their own minds.

“And here we are on their 10th anniversary. . . . God bless them.”

That’s what Sonny the compassionate movie producer did, but what would Sonny the tough-ass detective have done?

“I wudda booked her,” he said.
