Nicer scene for Kelly at film night

-

LIFE’S GETTING all warm and fuzzy for Kelly Osbourne after “Fashion Police.”

The rock offspring left E!’s fashion show in February amid criticism that it had become mean-spirited, following a storm over co-host Giuliana Rancic ’s remark about Zendaya ’s hair possibly smelling of “weed” at the Oscars.

Osbourne (r.) is returning to the red carpet for the first time since her sudden E! exit, and her new producers are focused on her “expressing herself in whichever why she’s comfortable.”

The former reality star will host the preshow for Sunday night’s “MTV Movie Awards” along with “Bang Bang” singer Jessie J and MTV’s Josh Horowitz . The show’s executive producer Garrett English tells Confidenti@l that Osbourne won’t be passing judgment like she did with Joan Rivers and Rancic.

“It’s not so much commentary as doing whatever she’s comfortable doing at the top of carpet, interviewing celebrities,” English tells us, adding that it’s something of a homecoming for Osbourne because she hosted the show in 2002.

“The ‘Movie Awards’ preshow has always had a positive tone throughout,” he says. “We’re excited about having Kelly expressing herself in whichever way she’s comfortable and we want to support her in having fun and returning to the show in a fun and vibrant way.

“There’s no specific creative (intention) around that that we’re looking for, other than having her be herself and enjoy being with us in the broadcast,” said English.

“Certainly the stuff she’s done on E! is top of mind for everybody, but I think our interest is more about what the tenor of the red carpet is and what happens preceding the ‘Movie Awards,’ and having a lot of fun at red carpet,” said English.

Osbourne told People, “I want to make people feel good, and I want to have fun,” adding, “I don’t want to feel like I’ve hurt people’s feelings or I’ve done something wrong.”

After Zendaya said she was offended by Rancic’s joke about her looking like she smelled of marijuana on the Oscars red carpet, Sharon and Ozzy Osbourne ’s daughter tweeted, “I do not condone racism so as a result of this I’m seriously questioning staying on the show.” Soon after Osbourne’s exit, co-host Kathy Griffin also handed in her notice, saying, “I do not want to use my comedy to contribute to a culture of unattainable perfectionism and intolerance towards difference.”

The “MTV Movie Awards” preshow airs on MTV at 7:30 p.m. from the Nokia Theatre in L.A. The awards, hosted by Amy Schumer , begin at 8.
