-

MIAMI — For the second year in a row, Giancarlo Stanton’s chances of winning the major league home run title have been hurt by an injury. The Miami Marlins slugger has a broken left hand, which is expected to sideline him four to six weeks. He was placed on the 15day disabled list on Saturday and will meet with a hand specialist.

Stanton, who grimaced as he swung and missed for strike three Friday night in the ninth inning of the Marlins’ 7-1 loss to the Dodgers, said the injury became worse as the game progressed.

While Stanton took lusty cuts in the ninth, he said the injury occurred on a swing earlier in the game.

Stanton leads the majors with 27 homers and 67 RBI. Last year he was in the thick of the homerun race when a beaning ended his season on Sept. 11, and he finished tied for second in the majors with 37 homers.

The Marlins did get a 3-2 win over Clayton Kershaw and the Dodgers on Saturday as Tom Koehler pitched seven innings.

Cano had a sizable welt near his left temple after being struck in the dugout when an errant throw got past Angels first baseman Albert Pujols before the seventh.

Cano felt dizzy and was taken to the clubhouse, where the Mariners’ medical staff checked the ex-Yank for a concussion. No signs of one were found.

RANGERS 4, BLUE JAYS 0: Yovani Gallardo extended his scoreless streak to a career-high 23 innings by pitching threehit ball into the ninth as visiting Texas snapped a six-game skid.

RAYS 4, RED SOX 1: Matt Andriese and three relievers combined on a three-hitter, and Jake Elmore hit a two-run homer for host Tampa. Andriese (3-2) retired his first 11 batters before allowing his lone baserunner, coming on a two-out single in the fourth by Xander Bogaerts. The rookie whiffed five in a career-high six innings.
