ALTERNATE-SIDE PARKING RULES ARE

IN EFFECT FRIDAY AND SATURDAY

Ever since Mayor John Lindsay closed Central Park and Prospect Park to cars on weekends in the 1960s, administrations have been chipping away at the hours when and where cars are allowed. The de Blasio administration continues the tradition.

Effective Monday and all weekdays following, cars will no longer be allowed to enter Central Park at 110th St. as carpools can now do from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. Nor will cars entering at Sixth Ave. and Central Park South be allowed to go past the 72nd St. exit at any time (The Sixth Ave. entrance will remain open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. weekdays).

Southbound cars will be allowed to enter the park at Central Park West or Fifth Ave. at 72nd St. from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. to go to the Seventh Ave. exit. Prospect Park will only be open to cars from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. from Park Circle to Grand Army Plaza.

Remember the Pride March takes over Fifth Ave. today, kicking off at noon (but closing streets earlier) on Fifth Ave. and 41st St. and heading down to 8th St. The postparade festival will tie up Hudson St. and W 13th St. in the Village.

A summer festival will close Eighth Ave. between 42nd and 57th Sts. 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.

Happy Independence Day! With July 4 on a Saturday this year and most workplaces taking the holiday on Friday, the big getaway will be Thursday afternoon.

Expect a crunch on the George Washington Bridge, Tappan Zee Bridge, New Jersey Turnpike and Garden State Parkway.

All Manhattan-bound lanes of the Brooklyn Bridge will be closed Monday through Thursday nights 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. Use the Manhattan and Williamsburg bridges or the Battery Tunnel instead.

The Mets play the Reds 1 p.m. Sunday, and then they face off against the Cubs

7 p.m. Tuesday, 7 p.m. Wednesday, and 1 p.m. Thursday.

The Grand Central Parkway and the Whitestone, Van Wyck and Long Island expressways will all be hit with fan traffic before and after the games.

A little turbulence on the West Side Highway at 38th St. on Tuesday at 2 p.m. as NASCAR driver Jeff Gordon is being feted at his Ride of Fame ceremony.

Remember school’s out for summer. Less congestion but watch out for kids playing.
