ECKS & BACON

-

Las Vegas - Don't talk much about the extended family, but this is pretty cool.

So, I'm watching the PGA on Saturday and get a text from my East coast buddy, Scooter. He's on a working vacay in Delaware. “Your nephew is 6-to-1 in the next race at Delaware Park.”

My nephew, actually, great nephew, is jockey Trevor McCarthy, who had a mount in the Preakness and is winning races at a RIDONKULOUS 36% clip at DelPark.

Immediately text back and tell him to gimme a $20 spot on the nose. He gets the bet in (even sent me a pic of the ticket). About 3 minutes later, he sends me this: BOOM!!! Not only does Trevor rally to win by 3/4 of a length, his odds jumped to 13-to-1! That's $288 bones for E&B. Have actually never met Trevor, but I GOT dinner when he comes to Vegas.

Not a great Saturday on the soccer field over in England. Southampton was bageled by Everton 3-0, and also had a wager on the draw in that match, which cost me a total of $160. Then lost $135 on Tottenham for my win wager, but made back $140 on the 2-2 draw with Stoke. After adding up all the ugly, the calculator says that -$525 is the current soccer figure.

BOXING REPORT: In the WBC, WBA welterweight title fight on September 12 in Las Vegas, Nevada, Floyd Mayweather Jr. (48-0, 26 KOs) is -$3,200 vs. Andre Berto (30-3, 23 KOs) at +$1,600; in the WBC middleweight title fight on November 21 in Las Vegas, Nevada, Canelo Alvarez (45-1-1, 32 KOs) is -$250 vs. Miguel Cotto (40-4, 33 KOs) at +$210.
