STAB AT FAME

Producer hunted after vic mocked Oscar dream

- BY MEERA JAGANNATHAN

AN EMMY-WINNING producer is wanted in Los Angeles for allegedly stabbing his tenant — because he laughed at the thin-skinned TV man’s Academy Award aspirations.

In a scene reminiscent of his own film, Andre Bauth is accused of stabbing 23-year-old roommate Clayton Haymes after he and other housemates made light of Bauth’s claim that he would someday win five Oscars, the victim told the Daily News in an email.

Bauth, Haymes and some of his roommates had just returned from dinner Tuesday night when Bauth made his Oscars comment.

“We all laughed a little bit,” Haymes (right) said. “The next thing I know, I’m being chased by Andre with a knife he grabbed from the kitchen.”

Bauth, 36, chased Haymes into a roommate’s room before stabbing him in the chest and puncturing his lung, the victim said. The producer then fled.

“I have never been in more pain or more scared in my entire life,” said Haymes, who is recovering from a collapsed lung. “I am just grateful to be alive.”

Police were still searching for Bauth (left) on Saturday. Bauth, whose real name is Andre Salaman Bautista, is wanted on an attempted murder charge.

The Colombian-born Bauth produced an indie thriller earlier this year called “El Landlord,” in which he stars as a Mexican immigrant who moves to Hollywood and becomes a landlord, according to IMDB. Haymes also appears in the film.

Bauth’s character, Luis, ultimately kills Haymes’ character in the movie, the actor said.

“Andre never showed this kind of aggression or anger to me before,” he said. “I pray that he wasn’t trying to imitate the plot of ‘El Landlord’ on me.”

The suspect won a daytime Emmy award this year for his producing work on “The Bay: The Series.”

Bauth may be making arrangements for a peaceful surrender, a police officer told

the L.A. Times.
