Black Lives Matter to ‘Late Show’ host

STEPHEN COLBERT may not wear his heart on his sleeve — but he wears his opinions on his wrist.

The new host of “The Late Show” was spotted wearing a “Black Lives Matter” bracelet during Friday’s show.

Colbert made the gesture after he was asked to wear the wristband by audience member Patrick Waldo.

The New York-based performer and street artist shared Friday on Instagram that he had asked the comedian to wear the bracelet during an audience Q&A session.

“I stood up and nervously told him I’m a longtime fan. Then I told him I’ve been involved in the Black Lives Matter movement for the last year,” Waldo wrote.

“I said, ‘From one member of the ruling class to another,’ and he laughed and interrupted me and said ‘The ruling class? What do you rule? Because I rule this theater!’ ”

“(I also asked Colbert to) say Black Lives Matter at least once during the show because I think your audience needs to hear it.”

The talk show host asked Waldo to bring him the wristband, noting, “I'll see what I can do. But I make no promises.”

Before the episode began taping, Colbert told the fan that he thought it might be too big for him to wear, but that “if he couldn't work it in tonight, he’d find a way to do it within the next couple of shows.”

Instead, Colbert wore it throughout the taping as he welcomed guests Amy Schumer, Stephen King and Paul Simon.

“Pretty commendable,” Waldo wrote. “Taking a stand on the right side of history is no small thing.”

A rep for “The Late Show” did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
