CHALK OF THE TOWN

I dreamt I was in the passenger seat of a private vehicle. It was late and very dark. As we drove along I was surprised to see Elliott Spitzer, dressed in beautifully tailored business clothes. He was in the middle of the street drawing a hopscotch diagram in chalk. Then we came to a group of apartment buildings. Even though I was at ground level, I could look down on one of the roofs. I saw four children playing and was fearful they would fall off the roof. What does this mean?

Patricia Donohue, New York, NY

Analysis:

With everything out in the open, something is apparent. Dare I say it? Having Elliott Spitzer in your dream reveals the need for some sort of exposure. With nothing hidden from view — not even rooftops that are seen from the ground floor — risk is exposed. Chalk lines on the street often represent the death of something in your life, the innocence of childhood perhaps. Yet you may fear a personal decline, a falling from grace.

SHE’S LABORING WITH CONCEPTION ISSUES

In reality, my husband and I have been trying to conceive for four years. I recently dreamt there was a hole in my stomach where a young unborn child was hanging out and I was playing with her on my lap. The umbilical cord was still attached to my stomach and the baby started dying so I just put her back inside my stomach and she was all right again. I held my stomach and said it will all be okay. Please interpret this dream.

Sarah Mercado, Madill, Okla.

Analysis:

Although the dream reveals the wish to conceive and have a child, this wish is conflicted. Anxiety about attachment issues is expressed: The baby nearly dies until you make the right decision to put her back inside the womb where she flourishes. In another view, the baby you have been trying to conceive is always within you, within your grasp, so to speak. This serves as an affirmation: Conception is possible.
