State auctions off medical crooks’ luxury cars

ALBANY — The state of New York is getting into the luxury car business, courtesy of a pair of Medicaid scammers who were busted in Brooklyn.

Officials are preparing to auction off two high-priced cars — including a 2013 Mercedes-Benz G-Class sport utility vehicle — seized from the fraudsters and will return the proceeds to the state’s Medicaid system.

“Medicaid fraud is a fraud on all taxpayers and a particularly egregious theft from our most vulnerable New Yorkers,” Gov. Cuomo told the Daily News.

“With this action, we are sending a clear message that we will not allow anyone to profit in any way from these crimes against those in need,” Cuomo said.

The Mercedes, which has only 721 miles on its odometer, was seized from Humphrey Udeh, who owned Advanced Medical Supply Inc. in Crown Heights and, according to investigators, stole more than $1 million from taxpayers.

A second car, a 2012 Audi A7 Prestige Quattro, was seized from Yolane Fouche, who also was charged in the scam. The Audi has 14,426 miles on it.

State Attorney General Eric Schneiderman busted the pair and a handful of others from Advanced Medical in 2013 and accused them of submitting bogus bills for high-end pediatric nutritional formula.

Udeh was convicted in July and sentenced to a maximum of 21 years in prison. He is not eligible for parole until 2022.

The case against Fouche is pending.

State officials were uncertain how much the auction would generate, but similar Mercedes vehicles have fetched as much as $113,000 in recent sales.

Similar Audis have recently netted as much as $40,000.

The auction will be held at 9:30 a.m. Dec. 1 at the state’s Harriman Office Campus.
