SHE HAS A HEART OF GLASS

I had a dream that my ex-love was on the floor. She was picking up many pieces of broken glass. When she stood up and looked at me, I saw that there were dark bags under her eyes and she was extremely skinny. Just as she started to walk towards me, I awakened. What does this mean?

Ashlee R., Brooklyn

Analysis: Quite literally, the broken glass in the dream is symbolic of your relationship breakup, but also what has shattered in your world. The dream reinforces the pragmatic view that what is broken cannot be put back together again. Viewing your tired, emotionally impoverished ex beneath you on the floor is an expression of your guilt over the splitting situation. There is the sad realization of having caused someone pain. You awaken to avoid this emotionally difficult confrontation.

HE RULES THE WORLD

I dreamed I was living in ancient Egypt – in an ancient civilization – but I was aware that I had four or five modern-day weapons in my possession and as a result, the present civilization could not touch me. I kept to myself, but, essentially, I knew that I was ruling the world. Please decode this dream.

Nick H., Manhattan

Analysis: Wishing for self-empowerment, protection and insulation in dreams is often triggered by an innate sense of an external threat or a sense of emotional disadvantage. In this view, the need for power manifests during periods of perceived physical or mental weakness when one feels vulnerable to attack. This explains the cache of modern weaponry in your possession. One understands the wish to be untouchable, to be beyond reproach, to have the last word, so to speak, and the wish to be ahead of one’s time. Having four or five weapons has personal meaning: Numbers often refer to family members. If so, strength is gained from these familial involvements.
