GIANT IN HOTEL RAPE PROBE
Bromley in bizarre tryst at Midtown Hyatt Woman falls from car as he drives away
GIANTS DEFENSIVE tackle Jay Bromley wentt from Instagram to instant jam.
The second-year backup was accused of at- tempted rape early Saturday by a woman who o the 6-foot-3, 306-pounder met via social media a just a short time before, police sources said.
The 26-year-old woman told cops Bromley snapped when she called for a halt to their liaison after performing oral sex on him inside a Midtown boutique hotel, sources said.
“At that point, something took place that shee didn’t want to take place,” a police source with knowledge of the investigation said.
An angry Bromley, 23, bolted the hotel with the woman clinging to the hood of his car — until she skidded off and he drove away, sources said. The woman called the police around 4 a.m.
Bromley, considered a bust since joining Big Blue in 2014, was not charged with any crime as police investigated the allegations.
Both the football player and his date were interviewed by police, and another source indicated cops were investigating whether the woman was a prostitute.
“It was mentioned that there was a ‘ pay to play’ thing going on between the two,” the source said.
NYPD Special Victims Squad detectives will make the final determination on charges.
Bromley had picked his accuser up at her home earlier in the night after the pair arranged a rendezvous via Instagram, cops said.
According to the woman, the “violent” Bromley refused to take her home after the abrupt ending to their get-together at the Hyatt Herald Square Hotel just four blocks from Madison Square Garden.
When she climbed on the hood of his car to block his exit, Bromley accelerated until she slid off onto the street, police said.
Bromley’s aunt, who raised the boy after his crack-addled mom and pimp father left him on a stranger’s doorstep, defended the former Flushing High School star.
“I never heard of it, so it is not true to me,” an irate Frances Nimmons told the Daily News about the allegations.
Bromley’s sister, Stephanie Nimmons, speculated the woman was a gold-digger making a phony allegation.
“I think it’s just money,” she said. “She’s doing it for money, whoever she is.” Calls to Bromley’sl ’ agent were not returned Saturday. A man believed to be Bromley was spotted entering his Secaucus, N.J., condo Saturday, but he ignored requests from reporters for comment. A Giants spokesman said team officials were aware of the situation and notified the NFL about the incident. The team declined further comment, citing the ongoing investigation. According to police sources, a rape kit was performed on the woman at Bellevue Hospital after she called the cops on Bromley. She was later seen leaving the Hyatt withi hi investigators.i
The woman also suffered injuries to her knees and legs when she was thrown from the hood of Bromley’s car, sources said.
According to his Instagram account, Bromley went to a recording studio around midnight and hung out with New Jersey hiphop performer Jay Watts.
Bromley has been hailed as a local boy made good, a Queens native who starred upstate at Syracuse University before he was drafted in the third round by the Giants in 2014 — the 74th player chosen overall.
He was born in Jamaica, Queens,Q to a crack-addictedk ddi d mother and a father who landed behind bars for a homicide just nine months after the baby’s arrival. Young Jay was born with a crack addiction as well.
Bromley’s father was a pimp who tied one of his prostitutes to a radiator and beat the woman — who later died, according to trial testimony.
When he was just 3 months old, Bromley was abandoned by his troubled
parents. That’s when his aunt Frances Nimmons and her husband stepped up to save the child.
The couple, with three kids already, raised Bromley as their own. They told him about his wayward parents when he was 6.
Bromley had never played football until his freshman year at Flushing High School, starting as an offensive lineman be-
fore moving to the defensive side.
He emerged as a pro prospect at Syracuse and spent the last two seasons as a Giants reserve, appearing in all 16 games last year with a mere 36 tackles.
Bromley’s supportive New Jersey neighbors said they were stunned by the allegations.
“It’s completely out of character,” said Dr. Bob Berckes, principal at nearby Secaucus High School.
“I have nothing but good things to say about him. He’s a wonderful man. He’s a very humble and compassionate individu- al.”
Just last year, Bromley showed up at the principal’s request to speak with students at the high school.
“He inspired them,” Berckes recalled. “Jay came right in, and said the things I couldn’t say . . . Jay is nothing but a classy gentleman.”
