Tips for attaining and maintaining a healthy weight

-

We asked Dr. Arthur Turovets, director of Nuvo Fat Loss, for his top tips for seniors on staying healthy.

Q: What nutrition tips do you have for seniors wanting to live a healthy lifestyle?

Dr. Turovets: Exercise for 30 minutes three times a week; eat a balanced diet of foods without additives and preservatives — the more natural and organic the better. Include plenty of vegetables and fruits, no processed carbs and foods with a lower glycemic index.

Q: What specific issues and challenges do seniors have regarding diet and nutrition?

Dr. Turovets: The older we get, the more susceptible we are to weight gain. All weight gain has a hormonal component to it, so the more we can do to balance the hormone levels the better. Hormone levels go down globally after the age of 25. In addition, the food we eat, water we drink and other environmental factors cause more hormonal disruption. Anything we can do to balance our hormones and detox the body will keep us healthier. As people get older it is important to stay at a good weight since 60–80% of most problems seniors face are related to weight and obesity. Q: How can hormone levels be corrected?

Dr. Turovets: The Nuvo Fat Loss program scans the body for hormone imbalances, as well as 2,000 other biomarkers such as toxins, to determine the cause of weight gain. Then we customize a program for each individual’s specific needs to detoxify the body and balance the hormones, allowing the body to get it into a fat-burning mode and ultimately lose weight. We typically see weight loss of 25–35 pounds for women and 35–45 lbs. or more for men in 40 days — plus, the program is guaranteed. Q: Is this safe for seniors?

Dr. Turovets: Yes, it’s safe for all ages. We have had patients from age 15 to 95.
