Hack of ‘hatred’

Targeted Chinese gals: DA

- BYROCCOPARASCANDOLA

A BIGOTED FORMER cabbie busted for roughing up and robbing two Chinese women in Queens said he did it because Chinese women are lousy tippers, the Daily News has learned.

Key Lee, who is Korean, was arraigned Thursday, his 34th birthday, on charges including robbery and assault, both as a hate crime. He was ordered held on $500,000 bail.

“This kind of bigotry and racism is not acceptable in a civilized society,” Queens District Attorney Richard Brown said.

Lee was busted Wednesday after a 3:35 a.m. incident in which he is accused of punching a 47-year-old Chinese woman in the face several times at 35th Ave. and Leavitt St. in Flushing as she walked home. He stole her handbag, which had $2,000 inside, Brown said.

The woman immediately went to the 109th Precinct stationhouse to report what happened. Using the Find My iPhone app, police quickly tracked the suspect down and arrested him nearby, police sources said.

Lee told cops he was driving home when the victim cut him off and failed to signal, Brown said. He followed her, Brown said, until she parked and got out of the e car.

“I don’t like the Chinese and I went to Flushing to look for Chi- nese people,’’ he said, accordingg to Brown. Police sources said Lee e also complained that when he e drove a cab, Chinese women nev- er tipped him.

In the first incident, just past t midnight on Jan. 27, he confront- ed a 49-year-old woman on Averyy Ave. near College Point Blvd. . while she was smoking a cigarette during a break from cleaning g snow off her car.

Lee’s lawyer could not bee reached for comment.
