Blaz’s pre-K lesson

THE PARENTS of more than 48,000 kids have already applied for prekindergarten classes for the next school year, Mayor de Blasio said Monday — urging others to sign up by a March 4 deadline for the first round of admissions.

The city started accepting applications earlier this year than in the past to maximize enrollment and received 48,748 requests as of Monday. For this school year, 68,500 children are in pre-K. Classes are available to all 4-yearolds whose parents want them.
