Trump praises ousted sex pig Ailes

DONALD TRUMP said he is still a fan of Roger Ailes, adding that sexual harassment charges against the ousted Fox News exec were hard for him to believe.

“I can tell you that some of the women that are complainin­g, I know how much he’s helped them,” Trump told NBC’s “Meet the Press” in an interview that aired Sunday.

“And even recently, and when they write books that are fairly recently released, and they say wonderful things about him.

“And now all of a sudden they’re saying these horrible things about him.”

The former reality TV show star said he considers Ailes, who resigned last week from the right-wing network he created, to be a longtime friend.

“It’s very sad,” the Republican presidenti­al nominee said. “Because he’s a very good person. I’ve always found him to be just a very, very good person.”

Trump dodged a question about whether Ailes is advising his presidenti­al campaign.

“Well, I don’t want to comment,” Trump said. “A lot of people are thinking he’s going to run my campaign.”

Ailes, 76, left as CEO of Fox News last week following a lawsuit filed earlier this month by former anchor Gretchen Carlson that he had sexually harassed her over a number of years.

Carlson’s lawyer, Nancy Erika Smith, said dozens of women have now come forward to tell of similar stories about Ailes.

Meanwhile, Trump insisted his recent shift on his proposed ban on Muslims from entering the U.S. was actually expanding the plan, not backing down. “I actually don’t think it’s a rollback. In fact, you could say it’s an expansion,” Trump said on “Meet the Press.”

During his acceptance speech at the Republican National Convention last week, Trump appeared to uncharacte­ristically introduce nuance into the proposal, explaining that he would only suspend immigratio­n from nations “compromise­d by terrorism until . . . proven vetting mechanisms have been put in place.”
