Sucky ripoff suit
A LOLLIPOP maker wants a judge to lick its competition.
The Topps Co. says in papers filed in Manhattan Federal Court that rival candy company Koko’s Confectionery & Novelty stole its design for a squeezable lollipop.
It says Koko’s Squeezy Squirt Pop is a knockoff of its Juicy Drop Pop, where customers can squeeze liquid flavoring onto a piece of hard candy.
The alleged patent infringement is intended to “confuse and deceive consumers,” and the copycat candy should be yanked from the shelves, the suit says. Koko’s did not return a call for comment.
