And before long, Callum will get to taste that vino. “I don’t think his palate would be ready for it quite yet, but you know, maybe when he gets up there into his late teens, if he’s in the company of adults and we’re having dinner he might be able to have a little bit at the table,” MacLachlan (photo inset) told a Confidenti@l source. “That would be OK with me.” Like Callum, the Baby Bear Syrah was born in 2008. It’s one of several wines that MacLachlan will be sipping this weekend when he heads to the Hamptons to promote Blushing Bear rosé — the third vino label that he’s produced along with winemaker of Washington State-based Dunham Cellars.
MacLachlan, chatting with an event organizer for this weekend’s shindig, said that he’s confident that “Twin Peaks,” the Washington Statebased TV show he made 25 years ago, will age well too. The 57-yearold actor is teaming up with director to make 18 episodes of the heady serial drama that enjoyed two seasons on ABC in 1990 and 1991. The new episodes will air next spring on Showtime.
While he was not able to plug his line of wines in the “Twin Peaks” reboot, he did enjoy a big boost from “Desperate Housewives,” where the vintage was featured in an episode last year after producers approached him with a deal of sorts.
“First of all, they asked if they could use it, and I said, ‘Of course,’ and they said, ‘Well, we’re not going to pay you,’ (and) I said, ‘That’s fine,’” he recalled. “I said, ‘You go ahead and use that wine and I’ll use the publicity,’ so it was a win-win for both sides.”
