Tom takes NFL operations job
TOM Coughlin says he still wants to coach, but for now he’s heading to a different field.
On Wednesday, Coughlin took a job with the NFL. According to a league source, Coughlin, who stepped down as Giants coach in January, is joining the league’s football operations department. The old-school stickler will work with VP of Football Operations Troy Vincent in the department that handles rules and officiating.
It’s a new look for Coughlin, who spent the last 12 seasons as head coach of the Giants, including pair of improbable Super Bowl victories. But after a second straight 6-10 campaign — and three straight losing seasons — the club nudged Coughlin, 69, out of his job in January, replacing him with Ben McAdoo.
