he also found work- out with the veteran CB to be a valuable experience.

“He’s a hard worker. He’s somebody that’s really fluid out there (with) everything he ing does. Makes it look effortless,” Apple said. “So when I see him (Saturday) I definitely have to try to trade jerseys or something. That’d be nice.” Apple said he started noticing Revis around 2008 and 2009. “To me (2009) was the greatest season a corner’s ever had,” Apple said. “That year he locked up everybody.” Apple, the No. 10 overall pick in this year’s draft, was having a solid training camp before he injured his knee in the team’s preseason opener. As a result, he missed the Giants’ game against the Bills, but he is expected to play Saturday night against the Jets.

“He is just getting back out there right now,” Giants coach Ben McAdoo said. “He has had a little bit of a layoff there, he has been nicked so I have not seen much of him recently. It looks like he is chomping at the bit to get back out there.”

Apple was part of Jerry Reese’s defensive makeover, in which the GM doled out big bucks for free agents in addition to using his top draft pick on a cornerback. Apple will be part of a group of Big Blue cornerbacks that also includes Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie and Janoris Jenkins.

Secondary coach David Merritt said that though Apple has been quiet, he’s been absorbing everything from the veterans. And he, like Revis apparently, has high hopes for Apple.

“I truly believe this kid is gonna be one of the great ones for us down the road,” Merritt said.
