A 27-YEAR-OLD woman plunged five stories to her death after she fell off the roof of her Midtown apartment building while intoxicated Sunday morning, police said.

Elena Gladkikh was sitting on the ledge of her W. 37th St. complex near Tenth Ave. when she lost her balance and plummeted, becoming stuck between two buildings around 8:35 a.m., authorities said.

Emergency responders had to borrow a ladder from a man working nearby to rescue her. The worker, James Proctor, said Gladkikh was unconscious and badly injured when paramedics rushed her into the ambulance.

“When they brought her out she didn’t look alive,” said Proctor, 52.

“The bruises she had, you could tell it was from a fall . ... She looked really bad.”

Gladkikh, a Mary Kay beauty consultant, was taken to Bellevue Hospital but she could not be saved. Investigators spoke with a man and the building’s manager at the scene.

Proctor said the man appeared devastated as he stood with police.

“He wasn’t crying but you could see the sadness in his face,” Proctor said. “He looked destroyed.” Her mother-in-law and father-inlaw said they were heartbroken and unable to speak. A man who answered Gladkikh’s apartment door declined to comment on the tragedy, saying that the family wanted to remain private.
